Below are a few of the areas available for your consideration are as follows: Bus Drivers – A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to drive an 11-passenger bus is necessary. We would need to add you to our insurance as well. Most of our trips are within the county and are one to three hours in length. For example: Leavenworth Safeway, Shopko, Wal-mart, dining out, attending festivals, and more. Volunteers to help with Bus Trips – (This is generally where the most need is.) Volunteers assist our residents on and off the bus and while we are off the premises. You may be asked to push a wheelchair and/or to help someone with their shopping. Walking Program – We walk outside when the weather is agreeable and in the hallways when it’s not. This may require pushing a wheelchair or just walking with someone. We have great fun walking and talking! Bowling – This may be setting up pins, assisting those who need it, or perhaps keeping score. Crafts –
Parties and Celebrations – We often need help decorating, assistance with games &
Activities,
or serving snacks. Music – Do you play an instrument? Do you know someone who does? Would you enjoy conducting a sing-a-long? As a teacher of some form of music, perhaps you’d bring students in for recitals. Groups are welcome also. Pets – You could bring animals to visit those who would enjoy that. Fingernail Care – This would be removing and polishing fingernails, not cutting and trimming. Many activities require only an hour or two; others may be three to four hours. (When you’ve decided to volunteer, it will be necessary to obtain your written consent to run a background check. The front office has the forms. Thank you for your consideration.) |
